Club Formation

Want to form a new club at SWHS?

There are two platforms for organized clubs:

  1. Non-Fundraising ASB Clubs
  2. Fundraising ASB Clubs

What's the difference between "Non-Fundraising ASB Clubs" and "Fundraising ASB Clubs"?

  1. Non-Fundraising ASB Clubs must have an adult advisor but cannot fundraise, collect fees, or spend through an ASB account
  2. Fundraising ASB Clubs can fundraise, collect fees, and spend through an ASB account and must have a faculty advisor (applications of this type happen only in the spring). To become a Fundraising Club, a club must have been in operation for at least two consecutive years and provide a continuing officer succesion.
  3. Both types require a SWHS staff advisor, the completion of an application, and the submission of a Constitution.
  • A "Fundraising ASB Club" also requires the submission of a budget.
    • The only time of year a new Fundraising ASB Club or an existing "Non-Fundraising ASB Club" can submit to become a "Fundraising ASB Club" is during the spring,  when budgets are being adopted for the next school year. The Student Council then meets  and votes as to whether an application to become a "Fundraising ASB Club" is accepted (for the following school year).
  • Applications for "Non-Fundraising ASB Clubs" are accepted throughout the school year.

Application Steps

1. Express your intentions and plans to Ms. Cagney the SWHS Activities Director.

2. Complete the appropriate application (found in the right-hand column on this webpage or at the bottom) and have it signed by the WHS staff advisor.

  • Clubs must have a certificated staff advisor (classroom teacher)

3. Create a Constitution (example/template found in the right-hand column on this webpage or at the bottom)

4. Fundraising club applications require a budget worksheet (Spring Only). Clubs are required to be established for two years as a Non-Fundraising club prior to applying for a Fundraising Club.

 5. Application, constitution, and budget worksheets (if applicable) are then turned in to Ms. Cagney or Ms. Lynagh in the ASB/Business Office.

Please see Ms. Cagney or Ms. Lynagh if you have any questions about this process.
