High School Exchange / Study Abroad Programs

There are opportunities to do a youth exchange and/ or study abroad while you are in high school. Listings on this page are informational; we do not have experience with every program. Do your due diligence when you are searching. 
 
Here are a few longstanding programs: 
  • Amigos de las Americas Travel abroad and help a community. 
  • ASSE Study Abroad Study abroad for a year or for a shorter term.
  • CIEE Study Abroad Study abroad now...or later. Several programs of varying length & timing. A Class of 2022 Shorewood grad went to Italy with CIEE. 
  • Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Spend a year in Germany! No previous German experience required.
  • Costa Rica Youth Exchange  In 2022-2023, a Class of 2024 Shorewood student took part in this program and had a great experience. They offer both summer and school year programs. Here's a flyer. 
  • Maine Coast Semester is an academically rigorous & hands-on environmental science and nature-focused program. People who have done it rave about it for years afterward. 10th or 11th grade students are eligible to apply. 
  • Rotary Youth Exchange  More local students have done Rotary than any of the above programs. Get in touch with the local Shoreline Rotary Club for their support.
